Last month we announced the launch of our own product restate.ae. This month we are happy to announce the launch of our first client work, akhtaboot.com
Akhtaboot, (the Arabic word for octopus), is an online network for both job seekers and recruiters, it’s not just another job board, nor just another social network out there. Akhtaboot’s main goal is to make users’ careers a fun experience and finding the right person for the job a simple word of mouth.
The story behind Akhtaboot and how we got the opportunity to build it is exciting. Most of the project was done remotely, we are based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Akhtaboot owners are based in Jordan. It was a very interesting experience, it helped us focus more on production. Thanks for the right tools, we were able to communicate as if we were in the same office, and sometimes even better, specially with the development tools that we use.
Talking with people from the same mindset always makes it easier to do the job, Mohamad Haj Hasan and Yousef Shamoun, owners and co-founders of Akhtaboot had the vision and the will to make a difference, they did their homework and researched the market, found out what was missing and decided to build it using the latest technologies.
Every single feature is based on a scenario and leads to the point where it fulfills a need, starting with the networking part where users can create their profiles, socialize, connect, recommend jobs and watch videos, ending with the company side where finding the right candidate is just a click away with the comprehensive search mechanism.
We really enjoyed building Akhtaboot, it was a lovely challenge with smart features. A clever way of distributing jobs, simulating the real life concept of ‘word of mouth’ by benefiting from the socialized network of users, an automated packages and payment system, and of course the fun mashups with Vimeo, Google Maps and Amazon S3.
